About The Movement Centre
The Movement Centre of Manitoba Inc. is a registered non-profit organization established in 1998 to meet the needs of Manitobans with movement disabilities.
We are a rehabilitative organization working with children and adults with mobility challenges including cerebral palsy, head injury, stroke, MS and Parkinson’s disease.
Using Conductive Education, the Centre helps people with neurological conditions gain or regain physical mobility, increased confidence and functional independence.
Conductive Education operates on the premise that no matter how severe the disability, people can learn and improve when they are motivated. Conductive Education helps individuals learn their way to independence.
The spacious facility consists of classrooms outfitted with specialized equipment designed to facilitate movement and promote healthy living and learning through childhood, adolescence and into adulthood. It also includes an observation room, heated pool with hydraulic lift, kitchen, laundry facility, and bathing area that are imperative to the development of life skills.
Fundraising is essential for The Movement Centre to help keep costs affordable for clients and families. Donations and grants allow the centre to subsidize 75% of the total cost of programs.
